Subject: Concern regarding students’ performance in class
Parents and Guardians,
The class performance in the previous two weeks has brought up concerns for our school community. Students are having a hard time staying awake in class, and when asked how many hours of sleep they get at home, some said five. The school education board has decided to ask the parents and guardians for their immediate contribution, as we will announce the changes made in the classroom rules that students will follow.
Students who fall asleep interfere with effective use of class time and learning by distracting the focus and motivation of the whole class. Also, it is recommended that kids get at least 9 hours of sleep for healthy mental and physical growth. Research shows that a continuous state of being sleep-deprived poses threats to early adolescent development.
The solution is simple: to have students sleep more. The school education board has decided to ask for the contribution of parents and guardians to simply observe their sleeping habits as well as manage their bed time which will best allow them to get the most sleeping hours as possible. If a student will be caught sleeping in class time, the student will first get a warning. If caught the second time, the student will not be allowed to participate in class activities, and the parents will be asked to come in for a private meeting.
As it is always our privilege to educate our students and take part in their early development, we ask for your contribution--to create a healthy classroom learning environment for your child as well as stabilize his/her mental and physical growing process. For any concerns or questions, please contact me at yechan.bae11@gmail.com.
Thank you for your contribution.
